PMIs and productivity
Accurate indicators of labour productivity can be derived from PMI data, helping users anticipate changes in official data on unit labour costs as well as providing an insight into productivity trends in sectors not covered by monthly official data.
NTC calculate productivity using company level data from national manufacturing and service sector panels. Data for output and employment from each respondent are analysed to produce a rate of change of each company’s productivity.
